February can feel like a strange in-between month. The excitement of the new year has faded, but Spring still feels far away. Energy often dips, motivation wanes, and work can start to feel like a grind. Many of my clients mentioned January was a tough month. If you’ve noticed yourself feeling a little sluggish or uninspired, you’re not alone.

Why Does February Feel Like a Slump?
- The new year momentum slows down
- Science shows that darker, colder days can impact mood and energy
- Work demands or expectations may increase, but motivation lags
- You may notice that it’s taking ok get to reach some goals (already)
Instead of pushing through with sheer willpower, try these small but powerful shifts to regain your drive:
1. Reconnect with Your “Why?”
Think back to your goals for the year and notice what inspired them? If your vision feels blurry, take a moment to write down what achieving those goals would mean for you personally and professionally. A clear purpose fuels motivation.
2. Shake Up Your Routine
Monotony can drain energy. Try a new morning habit, change your workspace, or schedule something different midweek to break the cycle. Small changes help refresh your perspective.

3. Make Wellbeing Non-Negotiable
Shorter days can make it easy to neglect self-care. Prioritise movement, daylight, and breaks. I promise myself even a 10-minute walk outside daily to can shift my focus and help me reset.
4. Focus on Progress, Not Perfection
If perfectionism is stalling your momentum, shift your focus to small wins. Forward movement, even if imperfect, builds confidence and motivation.
Motivation doesn’t always come when you call - you have to take action.
5. Plan Something to Look Forward To
Whether it’s a weekend getaway, a work milestone, or a personal project, having something exciting on the horizon can boost energy and drive. What might that be? Let me know.
Final Thought:
Your energy and motivation are not fixed, they ebb and flow. Instead of waiting for inspiration to strike, take intentional steps to reset and move forward.
What’s one small action you can take today to regain your momentum?
